VPN and Network shares

I have a problem with my VPN for my clients

The tunnel is formed. I can see it and they are connected. But they are unable to map or access any network shares. They get a message saying no network drive is available. Is it best to have them use

The server’s IP and then share names….OR the server’s NetBios name and then share names.

Examples:

\\203.45.6.789\myfolder\bsmith

\\smithserver\myfolder\bsmith

Neither way works right now…Can anyone suggest how to troubleshoot this?

I tried a ping to the IP and that times out?

I have the users using a level of Priviledge Level of 5

Thanks,

Bill Smith

Re: VPN and Network shares

Those are not windows share names. Windows share names are in the format:

\\machinename\sharename

To see what shares are available on a machine, open a command prompt, and type:

net view \\machinename
