VPN Client 3.5 and XP-Home

Just installed the client on my home PC, during the install there was a message warning that the product was not Windows :Logo compliant, which of course I ignored.

Now when I log off I no longer have the new graphical Windows log on environment I just see a rectangular log on box waiting for a user-id and password.

Any idea how to get back my old screen?

Thanks in advance

Re: VPN Client 3.5 and XP-Home

The Welcome Screen and Fast User Switching feature on XP are disabled, when the Cisco VPN client is installed.

Microsoft automatically disables these features in Windows XP when a

GINAdll is specified in the registry.

The Cisco VPN Client installs the CSgina.dll to implement the "Start

Before Login" feature.

If the "Start Before Login" feature is not required, the CSgina.dll

entry can be deleted from the registry to restore the Welcome Screen and

Fast User Switching features.

Using regedit.exe or regedt32.exe, go to registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon

Delete the value named GinaDLL.

***The entire GinaDLL value must be deleted, not just the value data

of "csgina.dll" or the features will not be restored.
