Havintg VPN client 3.5 installed with firewall option activated we are unable to get a Dir-list from an FTP-server (login succeeds). Unchecking the firewall option Directorys on the FTP server are accessible.

Does anybode have an Idea, or is this a bug in VPN client 3.5?

I believe you are talking about the VPN Client v3.5 feature called "Stateful Firewall (Always On)". With that feature enabled, the PC cannot act as a server (i.e listen on a port and accept incoming sessions to that port). When using FTP in Active mode, the PC acts as a server when you do a directory listing, a PUT, or a GET. FTP Passive mode does not act as a server so it would NOT have this problem. This information was documented in the v3.5 VPN Client release notes.

Most command line versions of FTP default to Active mode and may not have a way to switch to passive mode. You may need an FTP app that supports passive mode. Netscape WEB browser is one example of an app that supports Passive mode FTP. Just type 'ftp://ftp.yourserver.com' in the location field to FTP using Netscape.
