Try releasing the dhcp lease of a test 98 system using ipconfig/release *con*, then make a new vpn connection and see if this resolves the problem. Best thing if possible is to move away from Win98. Check out documentation at:
I`m familiar with that release/renew problem but that only happens when you disconnect your laptop/pc from the local LAN without sending release to dhcp, then connecting with modem or other dial mechanism.
anyway i`m trying to connect from my local lan , behind a cisco 1600 router to a remote site secured with pix. other machines on my lan xp+win2k have a good connection.
also , moving on from 98 is not possible for my client, he is working on some kind of billing program that does not work on win2k or xp.
