vpn client 3.6.3 + win 98

hello there,

i have many problems with win98 and vpn client.

i don't see nothing on control pannel / network after installation.

should i ?

i have at least 4 different cases which the client is stuck with a message "remote peer is no longer responding" . same lan has win2k and XP so i rule out a pix config problem.

suggestions ?

Try releasing the dhcp lease of a test 98 system using ipconfig/release *con*, then make a new vpn connection and see if this resolves the problem. Best thing if possible is to move away from Win98. Check out documentation at:

I`m familiar with that release/renew problem but that only happens when you disconnect your laptop/pc from the local LAN without sending release to dhcp, then connecting with modem or other dial mechanism.

anyway i`m trying to connect from my local lan , behind a cisco 1600 router to a remote site secured with pix. other machines on my lan xp+win2k have a good connection.

also , moving on from 98 is not possible for my client, he is working on some kind of billing program that does not work on win2k or xp.

thanks for the link , did not read that yet.
