I use the cisco-vpn client(4.6) on linux. Although I set SaveUserPassword=1 and set the UserPassword option, after the first logon the enc_UserPassword is not set. The Profile file is chmoded with 777 so this error occures not because of file access issues.

Any hints?

What is the VPN gateway you are connecting to? I believe you will have to configure this featue on the gateway too.

See step 11 in this document: http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/multisec/asa_sw/v_70/config/vpngrp.htm#wp1093578

VPN concentrators also have a similar configuration option.
