Hi,
I'm looking for some details about error messages on a VPN Concentrator. They appear from time to time. I would like to know what causes this problems. Just to complete, they appear on different Concentrator models (version 4.x) with different Cisco VPNclients (4.x)
The first one:
Jul 7 07:18:54 Concentrator 7530505 07/07/2006 07:18:54.080 SEV=4 IPSEC/4 RPT=13670 IPSec ESP Tunnel Inb: Packet authentication failed
, username: XXXX, SPI: 1547ba0b, Seq Num: 00003a3b. Dump of failed hash follows.
And the second one is:
Jul 2 12:34:03 Concentrator 7426113 07/02/2006 12:34:03.620 SEV=3 CAPI/0 RPT=5223 CAPI IPsec Authentication Error : No decompression performed
Any ideas where I should start to troubleshoot?
Thanks
Cheers

If you've got access to CCO go as if to download the VPN3000 Concenraror image, there you can download the Event Definitions file, e.g. vpn3000events-4.1.7.E.zip. It's just html files describing the error codes.
Could your first error be a NAT-Transparency error?
Event ID: IPSEC/4 Severity: 4
Event Text: IPSec ESP Tunnel Inb: Packet authentication failed, username: %s, SPI: %08x, Seq Num: %08x. Dump of failed hash follows.
Explanation:
Recommended Action: Verify IPSec configuration on head end and peer.
Couldn't find your second error under 4.1.5.

Hi,
Thanks for the info.
I downloaded the error messages. However, a recommendation like verify ipsec configuration is not very helful. As mentioned below, the messages appear only time to time. And in general, the most users dooon't have any prooblem.
Thanks again,
Cheers,
