I have a PIX running version 5.2(5). Im looking to use this for a 3DES/SHA1 User-to-PIX solution for remote access from the Internet. My question is: What is the difference between 'Cisco Secure VPN Client' and 'Cisco VPN 3000 Client' ?? Can the 'Cisco VPN 3000 Client' work directly with the PIX ?? I want to assign different groups with different Pre-shared keys in the PIX. I know the VPN 3000 Client supports this
I've made the VPN 3000 client work with a PIX, but with later code friend got from Cisco. It may have worked without, but I needed to be guided somewhat. The Cisco Secure client is their orginal version of a VPN client. The 3000 client is one which is branded for their new VPN hardware solution as you may know already. I seem to remember using shared keys too, because that seemed to be the only way to make it work.
