VPN Client vs L2L Connection Issues

I have two remote sites that connect to eachother via ipsec vpn. The tunnel between these two sites appears to be stable... pings/data move freely back and forth.

However, opening share folders using the host name does not work while opening the same share with ip address works fine. My first thought was that it was a DNS issue but I run into the same problem when I statically map the ip address to host name in the host file. Also, pings work whether you use host name or ip address, so makes me think it's not DNS related.

To further complicate the problem, when you connect to the remote site with the vpn client (instead of using the established tunnel) the share works fine using either host name or ip address.

Has anyone heard of a problem like this or have any suggestions to fix the situation? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Chris

Re: VPN Client vs L2L Connection Issues

check if you have configured the split-dns, if yes remove the split-dns.
