VPN disconnects

I am having problems with my home pc. If I leave the VPN up for an extended time; when I return to my desk tohit send/receive on Outlook I get error messages. It says I am still connected yet when I go to disconnect it gets stuck at “disconnecting the connection.” I have to kill the app to end it. Then if I bring up Firefox or ie; I can’t get on the internet. I do an ipconfig and a renew and I have an ip address but I can’t access the internet.

In device manager, I have 3 network adapters and the “Cisco Systems VPN Adapter” is disabled (Code 22). I enable it but then I think it becomes disabled. I can vpn, it still works but now I force myself to log out of it as soon as I hit send/receive so as not to “break” again. The only way I can get back online is to reboot.

Any thoughts?

Are you using a firewall on the PC?
