VPN-QOS setup for Router with IPSEC VPN

I have setup QOS many times for various wan links and lan environments as well but have not done any qos for ipsec and GRE-Tunnel based VPN'S. I know that you apply a qos pre-classify to either the tunnel interface or crypto map depending on type of vpn But do i apply the service-policy to the outbound interface? If anyone has a few complete examples it would be greatly appreciated.
