VPN using Cisco 1721 without VPN module

We only have three users that require VPN acess to our servers. Using the Cisco 1721, they are able to be authenticated by our PDC, but are then unable to connect to our Citrix Server after Authentication. This has become a problem since we began using the 1721. My question is two part:

1) Can you VPN using the Cisco 1721 Router WITHOUT the VPN module.

2) If so, what am I missing to make this happen.

Thanks!

Hi John,

1) yes, you can

2) Are you saying that you are able to connect to your private network using VPN but unable to connect to your Citrix servers?

Yes...the users are authenticated, but then cannot access ANY resources on the system, including the PDEC that authenticated it. All of the servers see each other and can access resources locally, but Citrix will not connect. This was not a problem until we switched to a new Router after a recent move. Could it be in the Proxy Server setup? (and if so, where?).

Thanks...

Re: VPN using Cisco 1721 without VPN module

You can try a couple of things. One you are authenticated:

1) ping the private interface of the router from the client and see if you get any response

2) if you do, then your VPN is fine and you must be running into a routing/filtering issue.

3) if 2) fails, then you probably have to describe your topology a bit ( like where is the CITRIX server located, are there multiple paths to get there from the VPN router, is there any FW involved? etc )
