WebVPN broke Java

I am trying to set up port forwarding through WebVPN. I logged in ok, and I clicked on the "Start Application Access" link, and it launched another window, and installed JRE 1.4.2_03. Then all I get where the table should be is a grey box. Sometimes it has the Java logo in the upper left corner, sometimes a red X, sometimes nothing. Furthermore, it seems to have broken Java on my machine altogether. Any site I go to that uses Java, I just get a grey box, including sites I've used before without any problem.

Things I've tried so far: Removing all versions of JRE and re-installing 1.4.2_03. Removing JRE and IE and re-installing. Updating from SP3 to SP4.

I'm running Win2K.

Re: WebVPN broke Java

This happens because the vpn connects to the Java URL and tries to do an automatic install of the JAVA application. Try to manually locate and download the Java appl.
