What are /20 /22

For a 192.168.1.0/24 my understanding is it equivalent to have a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 --correct?

Now what do the 20 and 22 stand for:

172.16.0.0/20

2.244.32.0/22

Thanks to help.

The /20 and /22 refer to the number of 1s bits in the subnet mask, as does /24. This simple table may help:

/24 255.255.255.0

/23 255.255.254.0

/22 255.255.252.0

/21 255.255.248.0

/20 255.255.240.0

/19 255.255.224.0

/18 255.255.192.0

/17 255.255.128.0

/16 255.255.0.0
