What is "sysopt connection permit-ipsec" in a PIX for??

If I remove that line what will happen?

I want to be able to have an ACL applied to the inside interface of the PIX to control what type of unencrypted traffic is allowed inside. Do I need to remove the 'sysopt connection permit-ipsec' command in order to do that?

The Sysopt command allows only the IPSec traffiic coming in on the outside to be allowed in even if its not specified in the access-list on the outside. As far as Inside access-list for unencrypted traffic goes, that should apply to the the decrypted packets and you can add only the traffic you want allowed to the inside. In other words sysopt command is only for the ipsec packets to get through the pix.

Hope this helps,
