What is the priority used for in the Pix ISAKMP POLICY command?

The doc does not say what it's used for other than as an identifier. To me the term priority infers some sort of discrimination. Here is what the doc says:

Uniquely identifies the IKE policy and assigns a priority to the policy. Use an integer from 1 to 65,534, with 1 being the highest priority and 65,534 the lowest.

The priority is used so that you can define multiple ISAKMP policies...... The PIX will compare the ISAKMP SA it receives to it's defined policies, begining with the lowest numbered policy, then if that does not match, it will check the next higher numbered policy, until if finds a match.

Hope this answers yoru question.
