when is fw lb required

i have a client with around 500 users..350 of whom are located on 7 remote offices and the remaining 150 are on the head office. All of this 8 locations are will be having their own proxy servers..they are connected to the head office thru frame relay of 64/128 kbps

The head office is planning to implement a firewall, wherein all the internet access (head/ remote offices) will go thru..

The question is, will this scenario require a firewall load balancer? I need some kind of justification. This is an option on their requirement but just need to be justified.

Thanks

Re: when is fw lb required

Hi,

I'm not quite sure that the PIX supports load balancing. I think it's only fail-over that is supported (active-passive)

If it is supported, then it all depends on how much traffic those users generate. You should look at the datasheet of the firewall and see what the maximum throughput is.

Regards,

Tom
