I have just moved into a new company at the Manager for Security and Operations. We have a CIDS for the 6500 switch installed, but not configured or activated. According to my reports, the system is overwelling them, and they are not able to tackle the task. (I will collect your resumes later ;-) )
Where do I start to get this up an going? What is a starting point or a checklist that I can use to guide my team through a project to get this up and running?
I do not have resources to outsource the project or for formal training.
Thanks.

Since there has been no response to your post, it appears to be either too complex or too rare an issue for other forum members to assist you. If you don't get a suitable response to your post, you may wish to review our resources at the online Technical Assistance Center (http://www.cisco.com/tac) or speak with a TAC engineer. Hi Jason,
Training for the IDSM was rolled in to the IDS Training classes. Glabal Knowledge is a training partner that offers such training.
Other than that you may refer to IDS documentation at : http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/iaabu/csids/index.htm
If you still cannot find info. that will get you started, you may contact me via email and I'll try to provide you with a quick start guide.
Regards,
-Mun
