I don't believe a list of services necessary currently exists, I would suggest contacting Entercept to see if they can compile this information for you.

thanks for you reply ,but what/who is intercept ?

Entercept is the vendor who has provided Cisco's host based intrusion detection product..

To understand what services are necessary, it would be helpful if you could provide the components on the VMS bundle which you are trying to install. Is it just the HIDS product or are you trying to install other products as well?

we need to install

Common Services 1.0

Monitoring Center for Security and Management Center for IDS sensors

(Version 1.0 Windows)

also how can i contact intercept ??

thanks

IDS MC installs all the services it needs, so a basic Windows 2000 professional should do the job. CiscoWorks does not require much over TCP/IP from the basic standalone system. It is also portable so Windows specific services are not required at all and may interfere (such as IIS).

thanks, but customer asked to know all services mandatory

for IDS MC, because he wants to disable most of services

for security purposes,so he need to know which services

must be present and running for IDS MC install and running

process, and which can be disable without problems for IDS MC

thanks
