why port security error disable ports with ' violation restrict' configured

Hi

We have port security configured in a Cat 6. We used 'restrict' as the viloation method.

however some of the ports are still error disabled. example below:

interface FastEthernet10/18

description 2-6.7/DR26S02

switchport

switchport access vlan 103

switchport mode access

switchport port-security

switchport port-security violation restrict

switchport port-security mac-address 0012.3fa2.8028

no ip address

logging event link-status

speed 100

duplex full

storm-control broadcast level 20.00

spanning-tree portfast

end

sw#show interface status error

Port Name Status Reason

Fa10/18 2-6.7/DR26S02 err-disabled psecure-violation

Any idea what could be the cause?

Re: why port security error disable ports with ' violation restr

Upon looking at your configuration i feel that the port went to disabled due to a security violatio. According to your configuration the machine with the mac address is the only one that has to be connected to that port.
