Win XP Pro PPPoE via ICS to Pix 506 VPN

I have to believe this has already been covered somewhere in here. If someone could point me to the right reference, or give a quick answer I'd be grateful.

Basic IPSEC 3DES VPN setup on a Pix-506 (version 6.1) at work. Small home LAN using Windows XP Pro ICS to connect through an ADSL line to the Internet. Using Cisco VPN Client 3.5

I can connect to the VPN using a dialup account (via modem) to the Internet, but cannot connect from my system using the ADSL line through Windows ICS.

Can this be done on a 506? Assuming so, what do I need to look into?

Re: Win XP Pro PPPoE via ICS to Pix 506 VPN

You cannot connect via a vpn client with ICS enabled on the same machine. You can however connect, if the vpn client is on a machine that does not have ICS enabled on it. Here is link that explains this: http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/471/vpn_3000_faq.shtml#Q43. I got this from vpn topissues page, 3000 concentrator frequently asked questions:

Hope it helps.

Re: Win XP Pro PPPoE via ICS to Pix 506 VPN

Thank you for the link. However...

That reference deals with a VPN 3000 concentrator which I believe carries different VPN server code than my PIX firewall (at least according to TAC, though TAC did state IPSec through UDP on the client should allow the traffic to pass through ICS to a PIX under this scenario. Such has sadly not been the case)).

I'm hoping for a way to generate the same results using a PIX 506 as the endpoint instead of one of the concentrator devices.
