Re: MVPN logging message in aggrigatoin router

Hello Sajiism220,

actually everything looks like fine about this customer RP

the error message decoder provides the following feedback

1. %PIM-6-INVALID_RP_JOIN: Received (*, [IP_address]) Join from [IP_address] for invalid RP  [IP_address]

A downstream PIM router sent a join message for the shared tree,  which this router does  not want to accept. This behavior indicates that this router will let  only downstream routers join to  a specific rendezvous point.

Recommended Action: Configure all downstream leaf routers to join to the RP that is  allowed by  upstream routers toward the validated rendezvous point.

Related documents- No specific documents apply to this  error message.

There is any difference on this PE node ?

how is configured the multicast VPN?

Hallo Giulsar,

Thanks for the update, here is the answers for the below questions.

There is any difference on this PE node ?

I compared with other PE's,there is not diffrence in the configuration, the cctv CAMERA which is belongs to this PE alredy working fine, only we are getting logs.

different IOS image, different model/platform?

We are using same IOS for all PE's,The IOS version is SRB6,and the hardware platform is 7609 chassis with SUP32

There is built redundancy, that is the VRF site is multihomed and there are two PE nodes serving the site?

No two PE node serving this site,This PE has dual uplink to agg1 and agg2 router. The agg1 is primary and agg2 is secondary.

what is the output of

sh ip vrf ?

PE1#sh ip vrf cctv
  Name                             Default RD          Interfaces
  cctv                             16999:1000080041    Vl200

PE1#sh ip pim vrf cctv rp mapping

    Info source: 10.160.255.3 (?), elected via Auto-RP
         Uptime: 1w3d, expires: 00:02:21

where is the

Customer RP is located in another PE which is located in our datacenter.

how is configured the multicast VPN?

Mulitcast VPN is configured by enabling AUTORP in PE and SSM mode in P's ,and there tunnel 0 to RP from each PE.

are all multicast addresses allowed to join?

Yes,I have allowed the same SSM access list in PE's and P as well

what is the output of sh ip pim rp mapping ?

PE1#sh ip pim vrf cctv rp mapping 239.160.11.38
