Any idea of when the 1200 field-upgrade kit for 802.11a will ship in the US?
Also, will it run from inline-powered switches or require a separate injector due to power draw?

Take a look at this page:
http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/cc/pd/witc/ao1200ap/prodlit/casqw_ai.htm
Seems the AIR-MP20B-x-K9 (x=Regulatory Domain) is what you are looking for.
Also, the Aironet 1200 can utilize a Cisco Catalyst 3524-PWR XL for its power, as well as a Catalyst Inline Power Patch Panel, or a power injector. This is likewise covered in this document.

I don't know about the shipping dates for the .11a module, and the AIR-MP20B-x-K9 is the .11b module, not the .11a...
However, I did hear that if your intention is to run the AP in dual-radio mode, that it will require more power than is available from the inline-power products, and that an injector (AIR-PSINJSYS1200=) is certainly required.
Hope that helps
