11a range for 1200ap?

Hi,

In the cisco aironet 1200 product specs, the range for 11b is 40m@11mbps. How about 11a?

I believe the range is the same for bot 2.4 and 5.0 GHz. Of course, this will depend on the antenna's you are using and intereference but there will be a whole lot less interference in the 5.0 space as cordless phones, audio/video transmitters and the like frequently operate in the 2.4 space.

The range is actually less than 11b. I would even go so far as to say it is about half the distance if you are using the same antenna's for both A and B. Yes a higher gain antenna will get you further. Frequency modulation is going to dictate that A will always be shorter in range than B. G however will be the same as B because both B and G work at 2.4 GHz. Hope this helps.
