We have a number of 350 AP's. When 40 bit WEP is set non-cisco wireless adapters can associate and function but when set to 128 bit these clients do not work. Is this a general restriction to using 128 BIT wep?

Do the client adapters support 128-bit encryption? Orinoco Silver adapters support 40/64-bit WEP, but not 128-bit. I don't know of other specific cards, however, this is something to check out. I've not run into any problems with getting 128-bit non-cisco cards to receive the WEP key from a 350 AP. Also, make sure you've turned off the Aironet extensions on the 350.

All of the above and also make sure that you configure the 128 bit wep key ie 26 HEX characters not just simply turn it on using the radio button
