3502i not joining 5508 running 7.6.130.0

Hi guys,

we bought a couple Cisco 3502i V02 APs. The PART# is AIR-CAP3502I-A-K9. The 5508 controller is running 7.6.130.0 and has other 3502i APs registered to it. Its set up with multiple countries, including the US. We still have free licences. The controller is in the US but the AP is on a remote site, which also uses -A for regulatory domain.

The AP downloads "ap3g1-k9w8-mx.124-23c.JA3/ap3g1-k9w8-mx.124-23c.JA3" from the controller, but when it reboots with that image it starts downloading the image again. I´ve noticed the  "CAPWAP SM handler: Failed to process message type 10 state 5" error, but cant find any info online

This is the boot process captured from the console:

The controller may have a bad AP image on it.

Please rate useful posts and mark answers as correct if applicable.

How can i check the controllers image? I tried to join the controller to other 5508s  on other sites, but it still doesnt work.

Hi,

Make sure the time is set properly on the WLC....

Also paste the output of this command from WLC: sh sysinfo

Regards

Hi Sandeep,

The controller is setup with UTC time. Here´s the output of show sysinfo.

PD: Yesterday as was able to join another controller that runs 8.0.120.0, but we intend to use the controller thats having issues.

Thanks.

Juan.

Hi,

May be this AP came with mesh imag!!did you try to add mac address of AP in mac-fliter list?

If not then try to add it.

Login to WLC, Security > AAA > AP Policies, click on add

Then enter the MAC address of the AP(Choose certificate type- MIC)

Hi Sandeep,

Is there a way to check if the AP came with a mesh imag?

If I add the AP policy, is it possible that the other APs stop working?

I´ll attach a JPG of the current configuration.

Thanks.

Juan,

Hi,

you can check by console access.

Don't worry, if you add MAC address of AP in WLC then it will not affect other AP functionality. Just add then give a try.

Hi Steve,

this looks like the only relevant information on this AP. I got a lot of "sending spamAdMobile aclName" logs.
