4800 Access point and 350 pcimcia card

My 350 pcimcia card does not recognize my 4800 access point..my 340 card works fine.

You must have one of the early 4800’s. The one with the green power switch is the older model which is not entirely a 340 AP. It will work with the 340 NIC’s but not the 350’s. The 340 AP (and the 4800b model) will work with the 350 cards (with a firmware upgrade in some cases).

I have designed a WLAN w/ the AIR-AP4800-E w/ the green power switch using the Cisco 352 PC Cards and it works wonderfully.

You have to make sure the PC card is set to:

"long preamble Tx"

so it can communicate w/ the older 4800 series Access Points. The older 4800's do not support short headers.

Also, make sure you upgrade the 4800-E to the latest code 8.65 so it can support WEP at 11MB.
