7 minutes to recover from WLC 5760 HA to primary WLC 5760

Hi,

Considering the following scenario:

1     AIR-CT5760-500-K9

1     AIR-CT5760-HA-K9

Both WLC are in the same subnet and running IOS XE 03.03.01SE

47x AP2600i

- In the Configuration->Wireless->Global AP Configuration we've configured the "Global AP Failover Priority" + "Back-up Primary Controller IP Address" + "Back-up Primary Controller Name" + "Back-up Secondary Controller IP Address" + "Back-up Secondary Controller Name" in both WLCs.

- Configured the primary and secondary IP address in all APs

- From a total of 47 APs, we've configured 8 of them with priority Critical, 7 APs with priority High and  3 APs with priority Medium.

We've issued an reload to the primary WLC and it took 7 minutes for the APs recover from the Secondary to the Primary

13:14 - reload issued on the primary WLC

13:15 - service granted by the secondary WLC (required an shut/no shut to the "Network Status" of the radio interfaces)

13:22 - service recovered to the primary WLC

The priority values mentioned above didn't show much improvement in the AP recovery time.

Is 7 minutes a normal recovery time for the 5760 WLC?

Kind regards,

Vasco Costa

Cheers,
Vasco

That sounds about right for the fall back to primary.  The Primary had to reboot and come up before the AP can join it.
