802.11b to 802.11g upgrade

Will it be possible to upgrade from 802.11b to 802.11g for the 350 series AP or will it be necessary to buy new access points?

AP 350's cannot be upgraded, AP 1200 can be upgraded from 11b to 11g.

I have heared that you can upgrade the 350 to 802.11g. But you must change the radio module from 802.11b to 802.11g. But i don't know sure if this is correct.

AP350 is not upgradable to 802.11 g but Ap1200 is , on Ap1200 if you replace the Mini PCI card to g standard it will do g .

I heard that NEW AP1100 is 802.11g upgradable ...

I wonder when the 802.11g mini-PCI card will arrive ?

Anybody any comments? I notice Apple has a mini PCI card out already.

There are number of companies who have released products based on the 802.11g draft. But remember, draft is exactly what it is. It is not expected to be a ratified standard until Q3 or Q4. I would be willing to bet, that companies such as Cisco release their 802.11g upgradeable radio chipsets around the time the draft is finalized. I would be hesitant when looking at current products already on the market. They have based their products on a standard that is not yet complete. Quite possible for these companies to possibly have missed out on any late additions or changes to the 802.11g standard My .02

The 802.11g draft has been approved this week. It will require a final couple of steps, but the 'standard' has been technically defined if not finally ratified. The good news: they stayed in the 2.4GHz frequency. This provides some cross-compatibility with 802.11b installations with 802.11b NICs. Part of the draft was to maintain backwards-compatibility with the 802.11b PHY.

And yes, the AP1100 is largely the way to go - upgradable, IOS, same processor as AP1200 and all for half the cost ~$599 list.

dear eric

i know 1100 would be a good choice for later 802.11g upgrade , but suddenly an EOS should not crop up for 1100!

please guide me, i want an AP which can be later upgraded to 52Mbps and it should be located outdoor(some weather proofing can be given) would you go for 1100 or 1200.
