Add APs to MAPs

Is there a way to bulk add AP's to Maps thorugh the CLI?  I have 600 AP's all with the default apmacaddress name.  I want to add 12 of them to a map but the list of ap's to add is extremely long with no way to filter on ip addresses.  Is there a way to upload to a map via the CLI or some other way?

Thanks

Add APs to MAPs

unforunately no.  there is no CLI method to manage the WCS.  You would have to do it in the Map, and add them individually.

One thing that may help, would be to name the 12 AP that you want to put on the map, then refresh the config from the WLC.  Now instead of having to look at the MAC you can look at a logical name to make it a bit easier.

Re: Add APs to MAPs

Along with what Steve mentioned if you have access to Ekahau and/or AirMagnet Survey those tools can export the maps/AP information into a format that can be imported into WCS. Those tools are generally a little bit easier to use and if you are doing a validation survey the auto place features will allow you to know which MAC goes where for the most part.

If you really feel adventurous you can script this via the WLC CLI. It would involve a few steps but could be done in Excel or any scripting language. You want to get a text document with this in it at the end:

config

ap name

ap name

ap name

.....

When you copy/paste that into the CLI over SSH/Telnet/Console that will change all the AP names for you which then can be sync'd into WCS.
