Aironet 2702 Autonomous mode

Hi !

Please, can anybody confirm (or not) if the Cisco AP 2702 works in autonomous mode?

The documentation says that it works in standalone mode:

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/wireless/aironet-2700-series-access-point/datasheet-c78-730593.pdf

".. Controller-based deployment and standalone deployments."

But I can't find any setup for it, and even a real deployment without a WLC (maybe because it's a new product?).

Thanks in advance!

Regards.

Hi Eduardo,

Yes this AP also work as Autonomous.

But Still cisco did not released the rght firmware for this.

**** As cisco says:  2700 is new, the autonomous IOS is for wireless site-survey only.  It's not meant to service clients as of yet.

Hi Sandeep,

Do you know if the newest release (03-september) contains the "full autonomous mode"?

Thank you.

Hi Sandeep,

Could you please confirm if this image really supports the full autonomous mode in 2702e (maybe talking with someone at Cisco)?

Thank you!

Does the autonomous 2702 code support 802.11ac or is it controller-based only?

Yes, this version is fully 802.11ac supported

Just tried to convert a controller connected 2702e to autonomous mode with no success. I loaded the above mentioned image via the archive command but this ended up with the following error message on the controller:

AP with MAC: 7c:0e:ce:b9:49:80(AP1c6a.7abb.1d04) upgrade image from verion:8.0.100.0 to 8.0.72.236 failed. Failure Cause:Problem extracting image tar file or image is not a valid.

Any help would be really appreciated ...

Try to use the mode button option described here & see if it end up similar fashion. Log the AP console output  while doing this & attach it to see if that fails again.
