Ok - after buying an aironet 350 + card and playing around with static WEP,
LEAP, etc and getting everything working successfully, all of a sudden the
WEP capabilities have just died. I can no longer even set up static WEP,
even though it appears that my client associates with the AP and the status
on the client utility is good. I have uninstalled/reinstalled client and
defaulted the AP but made no difference. I notice that every 45 seconds the
AP deauthenticates and then reauthenticates the client due to inactivity.
When WEP is set up now, the AP loses the ability to see anything from the
client and the client ip address changes to unassigned. When I turn off WEP
on the client and ping, the logs on the AP state that the client authenticated with encryption, but received an unencrypted packet. Basically I can`t use WEP. I`m running Win98 and v4.25.30/v8.2.3 on the client and 11.23T on the AP. Anyone else seen this problem? Any suggestions or should I throw it in the bin and buy a cheaper and less flakey D-Link or 3-Com?

Try using the 8.01.06 drivers. I'm not sure what ACU version you're running, but I have seen this type of issue and the drivers cleared it in my environment.

Thanks for advice - I was planning on downgrading the drivers and code. Just installed card on win2000 server - can get static WEP to work now but not LEAP even though my radius server authenticates the client - refuses to pass traffic and client loses its statically assigned ip address???.....will downgrade and see if that remedies it.
