Aironet LMC-352 Cards and Diversity

We are deploying Wireless carts with Cisco Aironet LMC-352 PCMCIA cards with a single (MMCX) pigtail connector running up to a "rubber duck" antenna mounted to the cart.

My question relates whether I should keep the default setting of diversity or wheter I should force the transmit and receive to a single port via the Aironet Client utiily. What are the potential problems if I leave the setting at diversity vs. forcing the TX & R.

1) The card will attempt to receive on a terminal with no antenna. This should not be a real problem, but it will waste the effort.

2) The card may attempt to transmit on a terminal with no antenna. This can be a problem and no transmitter in the world likes the idea.

3) It's not really that much effort to change the setting.

4) Since you're using a cart, I'm guessing that it move around. Hooking up both antennas might help with multipath issues that may exist. That's why there are two connectors.

Any transmitter needs an antenna, or risks being damaged. You should turn off diversity if not using both antennas.
