antennas verification on 1200 AP

Hi Guys,

There are two antennas on my Cisco 1242 AP. How can I verify which antenna is active? The left one, or the right one?

Thanks,

Re: antennas verification on 1200 AP

By default they are operating in diversity mode, which means both are active. If you have a non-diversity external antenna(only 1 cable), you would want to connect it to the connector labled "Right/primary".

Re: antennas verification on 1200 AP

I am monitoring some 1200 APs remotely. A technician replaced the diversity antenna with a non-diversity one on site. It is connected to the Right/Primary connector. The antenna setting is changed to rx/tx at right one. How can I verify it with a command remotely? The ony way I know is "show run" so far. Is there another show command to verify it?

Thanks,

Re: antennas verification on 1200 AP

Hi Xi,

show run is the appropriate command. Here are the commands to reset the Antenna settings to default,diversity (left-right) etc;

antenna

Use the antenna configuration interface command to configure the radio receive or transmit antenna settings. Use the no form of this command to reset the receive antenna to defaults.

[no] antenna {receive | transmit} {diversity | left | right}

Syntax Description

receive

Specifies the antenna that the access uses to receive radio signals

transmit

Specifies the antenna that the access uses to transmit radio signals

diversity

Specifies the antenna with the best signal

left

Specifies the left antenna

right

Specifies the right antenna

Defaults

The default antenna configuration is diversity

Examples

This example shows how to specify the right receive antenna option:

AP(config-if)# antenna receive right

This example shows how to set the receive antenna option to defaults:

AP(config-if)# no antenna receive

Hope this helps!
