AP (1140) is configured as a DHCP server but the user not getting an IP

Hi,

I have just one AP 1140 as standalone AP for wireless site survey purposes, AP doesn't attached to any network equipment.

I can't get an IP after I configured the AP as DHCP server.

AP SW Version is: c1140-k9w7-mx.124-25d.JA1

Below the output of show conf:

Hi,

are you showed a complete output of "show conf"?

I can't see one relevant command thats enable a BVI to accept and route routable packets received from its correspondent bridge group:

bridge 1 route ip

I hope this will solve your problem:

Can you connect to the SSID you create ? Post output of the below debug command while you are trying to connect to this SSID

"debug ip dhcp server packet detail"

Re: AP (1140) is configured as a DHCP server but the user not ge

Hi Ali,

We cannot see any DHCP discover requests (or any DHCP related packets) coming from your wireless client. Try this with different clients to see whether this is your client specific issue

Also make sure your interface BVI1 is up by using "show ip interface brief"

normally you should see a similar output below

AP (1140) is configured as a DHCP server but the user not gettin

Hi Mohammed,

On other note, as far as i know you need to have "bridge group" command under your gig interface for AP to bridge wireless traffic to ethernet as below.

interface GigabitEthernet0

no ip address

no ip route-cache

duplex auto

speed auto

no keepalive

bridge-group 1

no bridge-group 1 source-learning

bridge-group 1 spanning-disabled

Also on the DHCP scope you have put AP ip address as default gateway and you dont have ip default-gateway x.x.x.x

configured on the AP. These two needs to be corrected as well.

Hope that helps.

Hi Najaf,

I have modified the commands as per requested.

I have also configured dot11radio 1

so now I have two SSIDs:

radio 0 = BTC SS Kit 2.4GHz

radio 1 = BTC SS Kit 5GHz

I tried to connect to both of them from different OSs; Windows, iOS, Android but no luck... getting an IP: 169.x.x.x

AP (1140) is configured as a DHCP server but the user not gettin

Hi Mohammed,

Do you see anything logs with the dhcp debug enabled?

Like rasika mentioned is the BVI 1 interface is in UP and UP state?

Save the AP config and reload it and give a try again...

Hope that helps.

AP (1140) is configured as a DHCP server but the user not gettin

Hi,

Is this AP connected to a switch? Why is Gig interface protocol is showing as down?

Is the windows device a laptop? If so can you enable wireshark and see if it is sending dhcp request from it?

Hope that helps.

Re: AP (1140) is configured as a DHCP server but the user not ge

The AP as I mentioned in my orginal post, doesn't attached to anywhere, then the protocol is down

Yup, the laptop is running on W7 64-bit.

Attached Wireshark file contains around 500 packets continuously.
