zmclean

Level 1

I can console into the unit but none of the commands the change anything are there. I really want to enable the web based admin feature but its not working and there is no config command to be used.

I can do an enable but that doesnt change anything i can also just view file structures and stuff like that. I need to get it working with 2 SSID's. Thanks.

Hi Friend,

Can you confirm if this 1130 is LWAPP or IOS AP?

Ankur

The model number is AIR-LAP1131AG-A-K9

Hi Zach,

Ankur was on the right track here :) The problem you are having is due to the fact that you have received a Lightweight AP (denoted by the LAP in the part number) this is a pretty common occurance and the AP can be converted back to Autonomous (IOS) using the following method;

Reverting the Access Point Back to Autonomous Mode

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/wireless/ps430/prod_technical_reference09186a00804fc3dc.html#wp161272

Converting a Lightweight Access Point Back to Autonomous Mode

You can convert an access point from lightweight mode back to autonomous mode by loading a Cisco IOS Release that supports autonomous mode (Cisco IOS release 12.3(7)JA or earlier). If the access point is associated to a controller, you can use the controller to load the Cisco IOS release. If the access point is not associated to a controller, you can load the Cisco IOS release using TFTP.

Using a TFTP Server to Return to a Previous Release

Follow these steps to revert from LWAPP mode to autonomous mode by loading a Cisco IOS release using a TFTP server:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Step 1 The static IP address of the PC on which your TFTP server software runs should be between 10.0.0.2 and 10.0.0.30.

Step 2 Make sure that the PC contains the access point image file (such as c1200-k9w7-tar.122-15.JA.tar for a 1200 series access point) in the TFTP server folder and that the TFTP server is activated.

Step 3 Rename the access point image file in the TFTP server folder to c1200-k9w7-tar.default for a 1200 series access point, c1130-k9w7-tar.default for an 1130 series access point, and c1240-k9w7-tar.default for a 1240 series access point.

Step 4 Connect the PC to the access point using a Category 5 (CAT5) Ethernet cable.

Step 5 Disconnect power from the access point.

Step 6 Press and hold MODE while you reconnect power to the access point.

Step 7 Hold the MODE button until the status LED turns red (approximately 20 to 30 seconds) and then release.

Step 8 Wait until the access point reboots, as indicated by all LEDs turning green followed by the Status LED blinking green.

Step 9 After the access point reboots, reconfigure it using the GUI or the CLI.

Will this enable the radio to put out 2 SSID's at once. Or should the product be able to do it now

Hi Zach,

In its current state as an LWAPP AP it can only work with a WLC (Wireless Lan Controller). Once you have converted it to an Autonomous AP you can set it up for Multiple SSID's. Have a look;

I rated the posts very high and sorry didnt realize that i could. One more question i have a Cisco 4402 and we want multiple SSID's is that possible? Thanks

Hi Zach,

Thanks for the nice rating :) I am sorry that I didn't realise that you had a WLC. You can have multiple SSID's using the WLC and 1131AP (I believe 16 in total) SSID's in LWAPP are mapped to WLAN's. Have a look;

Rob

thanks for the fast help and great answers. So I have done all that but still the AP doesnt broadcast both SSID's any reason why?

Hi Zach,

For Lightweight AP's

In order to enable SSID broadcast, check the Broadcast SSID check box in the WLAN Edit window on the WLC.

For Autonomous AP's running Cisco IOS Release 12.3(4)JA or later

Hope this helps!

Rob

if the VLAN's or something is not configured correctly will the SSID not be broadcast? And can the SSID be broadcast out of the same port as another SSID or do i need them to be in seperate ports?

Hi Zach,

We don't seem to be making any progress here, and although I appreciate the nice points the goal here is to help you out and get you some answers! Take a few minutes and have a look at all the docs I've sent along with the following ones. Try re-posting a new question that clearly outlines the problem (make sure it has all relevant details, Lightweight vs Autonomous, WLC version etc.) and I'm sure we can get this solved for you. There are many people here that are far smarter than me on these topics and we need to engage them!

I don't mean to dump you off, but we need to get this fixed so you can move forward :)
