Cisco 1200 Series Wireless Lan Setup

Dear all,

I'm getting hold of some test kit to do some proof of concept work in our business. The idea is to network our plant area (which is hard to wire) with a wireless LAN and connect it up to our existing corporate network.

I wanted to get as much of a head start as possible before the kit arrives and was wondering if anyone could point me to some quality documentation related to securing the Wireless network using VPN's.

Our network is a Pure Windows 2000 network with Active Directory.

Any advice for a newbie to Wireless is much appreciated :)

Start with WEP (because even if you use a VPN for your client devices, you don't want to give away free service), then.add the VPN client on top of that..

If you are going to need wireless handhelds (and given the cost/benefit vs. laptops you probably will!), make sure your VPN can support those as well.

Check out the "design guides" link to the right of this page.

It covers WLAN VPN based security as well as LEAP implementations. In most cases the LEAP solution is a better fit for enterprises.

I don't have access to that content sadly since I'm "not yet" a Cisco customer.

If anyone has those design guides and would be willing to email them I would be very very grateful.

thanks in advance
