I have a customer looking to use the AIR-ANT2440NV-R= bell shaped MIMO antenna on an older 1242AP. This is to essentially increase signal coverage using hardware already available.
They only need the 2.4GHz "G" coverage which this antenna would look to support, but it comes with three RP-TNC pigtails, and the 1242 AP only has two 2.4GHz RP-TNC connectors. The Antenna connectors don't appear to be marked in any way.
My questions is, if only two of the pigtail RP-TNZ connectors from the Antenna are connected to the AP will this antenna work in diversity mode, and will the third unconnected RP-TNC pigtail cause any issues?
Thanks,
Alister

You can use this type of antenna. You can either use just 1 lead and disable diversity or use two with diversity enabled.
I would pick the two elements that look most different.

I dont actually recommend to use MIMO antennas with nonMIMO AP unless it is a special case.
IMHO, that AP was not designed to work with MIMO. Unless you dont have other options, try to avoid those antennas and use normal antennas with this AP.
They may work however with your AP without problems.
