Qick question I have a Cisco aironet 1041, is it conpatable with the Cisco controller 2504?

It would , but you need to have the Lightweight AP parts i.e AIR-LAP1041N-x-K9: Single-band Controller-based 802.
11g/n. It ensures the controller AP will communicate with each other ( unlike standalone ).

Ok so it is compatibale but it just wouldn't be able to communicate with other controller baised APs?

Compatibility also depends on the code on the WLC. Here is a matrix that you should keep handy.
