Anyone using Cisco 350 APs with Telxon/Symbol 960sl handhelds and Powernet Twinclient manager? We interface with an AS400 and are having response time issues, high CRC errors along with host disconnections. Does anyone have any suggestions?
We are having similar difficulties with Telxon and other clients running 350 cards and 350 access points. In our case, our emulation is vt220 and telnet though.
See my message about roaming. It seems that these clients just don't roam until their association/connection is completely hosed on one access point. By the time that happens, the telnet connection, of course, is also hosed. I would think that 5250 would be similarly sensitive to latency and retries.
Very soon i will be doing the same i mean using telxon 960SL with cisco aironet 340/350. I have tested in a lab environment and the problem i found is that if i start to login from cisco access point and if it is a mix envoronment meaning AP 4800 and 340 than PTC 960SL was not logining into the UNIX application. But later we found that if the MAC address of the PTC is known to gateway machine or server than it registers immediately. I will implement this very soon as now lab testing is complete in using normal telent application. I have not found any more problems except above. I have a big live site.
Have you activated "Wireless Connect"? It is an O/S400 version of the Telxon Open airgate middleware server. The open Airgate will maintain the sessions with the A/S400 and the 960s will communicate with the Wireless Connect. The client liscenses come in blocks of 100 and are relatively cheap for IBM.
AS400's use a timemark value to control sessions and frequently disconnect wireless terminals that are sleeping or powered off, the terminal stack can not respond if the terminal is powered down and the AS400 disnoccents it. Tech notes are available from our WEB site for our partners which will explain the AS400 System settings that effect this.
CRC errors are usually environmental and should be diagnosed on site with a network analyzer.

I have created a Powershell script to automatically add a Wireless Guest User on Cisco WLCs. (tested on 2500 Series)
The script should be completely self explanatory.
