Hi everyone:

I have a problem with two Cisco AIR AP's ... I have configured already eight of them (in lightweight mode), but those two send me the next error, right now.

ap: %Error opening tftp://255.255.255.255/ap3g2-k9w7-tar.default (connection timed out)

And when I boot to the AP, it says:

The thing is, I've been applying the instruction:

capwap ap controller ip address 10.4.13.2

'cause I want them to communicate with a remote controller, and the past eight did it fine, but this two didn't.

As for the things I've already tried, I have reset it's parameters to it's initial settings, I've tried to load a new IOS image, I've cleared the flash memory, but nothing works, it keeps communicating with the old controller.

How can I fix this? (I mean, changing or adapting the AP to a lightweight AP)

Thanks in advance

Well if they communicate with another WLC, all you need to do is go to that WLC and click on the AP and then go into the High Availability tab.  There you can set the Primary which would be the WLC you want that AP to join.  That would be the easiest since its joining a WLC already.

Some questions... do you have other ap's in that site that is joined to that WLC also?  If not, maybe something is blocking UDP 5246 and UDP 5247 to that site.

Thanks,

Scott

Thanks for answer!

I forgot to mention that I also applied the instruction to change the default or primary controller "capwap ap primary base 10.4.13.2". (10.4.13.2 is the remote controller ip) Do you refer to that?

And yes, I have other AP's already configured (eight, to be precise) and I can see them in the controller.

Its fine to try to apply it from the console...but if you really want to clear the AP, you need to clear the nvram.  so if changing the primary from the GUI that the AP has joined didn't work, then try this:

debug capwap console cli

erase /all nvram

*******************************************************

Example:

Entered the username and password

debug capwap console cli

erase /all nvram:

[confirm]

undebug all

reload

[confirm]

Scott

Hi again, sorry for the delay.

I actually had to go to the physically location of the WLC to connect the AP, and only then it recognized it, and renewed it's data. However, I'm still not sure why I could not do it remotely.

Thank you for your time, Scott!

Resolved on Cisco 1702i-E-k9

%Error opening tftp://255.255.255.255/ap3g2-k9w7-tar.default

I resolved this issue by assigning static ip address to PC 10.0.0.2/8 and static ip 10.0.0.1/8 address to BV1 interface on AP by using console cable. If config term dont work use following command # debug capwap console cli.

Also made following changes to TFTPD64 SERVER. Under setting tftp security =none, bind tftp to 10.0.0.2. After these changes you need to restart tftp server and run as administrator.

I was stuck for 3 days to fix this issue. Remember to rename to file ap3g2-k9w7-tar.default. AP address 10.0.0.1 should be ping able from tftp Pc(10.0.0.2) and might it would not work vice versa.
