Cisco Aironet 350 series PCI client adapter shows network cable unplugged

Dear all,

Hello! I'm a master student doing a research on wireless LAN. I have installed a Cisco Aironet 350 series PCI client adapter on a PC running Windows 2000 Server. When the PC just started, the adapter would show a "Network cable unplugged" icon at the bottom left corner of the windows, and there was no connection to the network. Then, after a few seconds, the icon would disappear and the PC was connected to the network. When the PC was connected to the network, the round trip time from the PC to its gateway measured using the "ping" command would give a large round trip time of approximately 100 ms. Besides that, the network connection of the PC was not stable too. That is, sometimes the "Network cable unplugged" icon would be shown again, then disappear, and so on. Does anybody know why this happened? Could somebody please help in this? Hope to hear from you all. Thank you very much in advance!

Jessica, Did you ever find out the problem? I am having the same problem. Any help would be great.

If the ethernet card has no ip address or looses the association, wiondows will display that message. So i would say install the ACU and moniter the signal strength. Now i assume that "client for microsoft networks" and "Internet protocol TCP/IP" is already installed in LAN connection properties for that card.

Now how the ip address are being allocated? via dhcp? Have you checked the dhcp for possible allocation of ip address? Try configuring static ip address.

Well, I had this problem yesterday, same scneario, i bought a 350ap and pci352 pcmcia card and it seemed to associate and disassociate continously and i made sure theres no encryption and the right ssid is being used and was monitoring it on the acu and all seemed good now. i have a static ip on the laptop card and now i cant pint the ap though which i have to work out.
