Cisco AP1242 Wireless Bridge 802.11a

Hello all,

I'm attempting to connect 2 sites that are 1.6 miles apart for a non-for-profit. I'm using some Cisco AP 1242 to bridge the 2 sites along with 17" 24dbi parabolic dish. I'm trying to use the 5.7 802.11a band to get the 54Mbps of throughput.

Now I'm aware that these units are designed for indoors, rest assured they are stored in a cool dry box. My cable to the dish is about 6' in length. The elevation of the root unit is 32 stories and the other is 10 stories. There are no physical obstructions between the 2.

I have not been successful at linking the 2 together.

I get:

Link should work properly if sites are in clear line of site.

I'm looking for any advice and direction on how to properly align the dishes.

The 1242's don't realy have an alignement mode, which I guess is the problem you are having. You can take a look at this link and maybe set one up as an ap and the other as a repeater and then try to use the command to align the antenna.
