Client authentication issue with WiSM2

we have a special SSID that uses a full email type address for authentication (eg bob@company.com).  This works fine on our WiSM (model WS-SVC-WISM-1-K9), and clients authenticate as expected.  However, on any AP that is joined to our WiSM2 (model WS-SVC-WISM2-K9), authentication fails without even reaching our ACS.  So it seems the WiSM2, for some reason, isn't passing the username when a "@" symbol is used (if you remove the @company.com, clients authenticate fine, but this is not how we would like the SSID to function).

WiSM2 is running software version 7.0.116.0

WiSM is running software version 7.0.98.0

Any help on this would be wonderful.
