connect PC to dedicated AP

Hi,

Is in the WLAN network two configured SSID, one for a printers and another for a PC. It's possible to ping the printers form LAN but not from PC WLAN. There aren't any ACLs configured. Is on WLC any option to routing between WLAN? The firewall is a only layer 3 device in the network.

The controller is 2112 with 7.0.98 software version and all APs are in local mode. The network is flat with /16 bit mask.

The second problem is that on the Wi-Fi network above some AP (1231) are converted from standalone AP to LAP mode.
To network was added another LAP 1242 with external antenna.
One PC with WI-Fi card want to connect always to the new LAP even has a poor signal.
The 1231 has only one external antenna and is closer than 1242.
How to force that this PC must always connect to 1231, its possible to configure on WLC?

Hi Kamil,

1) Check about the option "peer to peer blocking" on your SSID configuration. You want to disable it.

2) The client decide itself where it wants to connect. If it has stupid drivers that make it connect to a "not the best" AP you cannot do much about it.

Only things you can do :

-update client drivers

-enable or disable load balancing on WLC. There is no best setting. Basically load balancing prevents clients to connect to APs that are already busy. So if it's currently enabled, maybe your 1230 AP is busy ?

Hi Nicolas,

Thank's for your replay.

In referring to the second point it's may be helpful to create AP group and broadcast only some SSID on a dedicated AP?

Kamil

If you want to have some SSIDs serviced on some APs and not others, yes it will help.

But that's only if you accept to have some APs not servicing some SSIDs :-)

Hi,

About P2P Blocking option it's not helped me with a communication between two WLAN's.

Have you got any suggestions?

Kamil

p2p is for the clients not to communicate with another.. i guess this doesnt make any difference.. u can try with AP-Groups..

lemme know if this answered your question..
