Disable antennas on newly joined AP's

Is it possible to automatically shutdown the antennas on newly joined AP's to the controller?

Having a problem where staged AP's are broadcasting out incorrect SSID's for the building.

Thanks

I'm assuming these are fresh out-of-the box LWAPs, and that your WLANs have WLAN ID's <=16.

All WLANs having ID's <=16 are members of the Default AP group.  New LWAP's are members of the Default group until assigned to a different group.  Thus they inherit all WLAN's (SSID's) of the Default group.

Two options:

  • Delete and recreate the WLAN's, manually assigning each WLAN a WLAN ID >16.  This will keep the WLAN's out of the default group and the new LWAP's will not inherit these WLAN's.
  • Prime the LWAP's at your desk before staging and set them to Admin Down before deployment.  This will prevent inherited WLAN's from appearing on the air even though the WLAN's are in the Default AP group.

Go to Wireless -> RF Profile on the controller and there is an out of box checkbox. If you enable this and add an unconfigured AP on a controller,  their radios disabled and the AP will be put into an out-of-box AP group.

Believe this works on 7.3+, certainly works on 7.4.

Cool!  Thanks!

I just fired up a NIB 1142 & it seems to work.
