distance of wireless association

Hi,

We have few workgroup bridge access points, which do not associate with the proper parent access point. sometimes workgroup bridges associate with another access point which is much farthest than the nearest access point.

what might be the possible reasons for them not associating to the nearest access point. the nearest access point is about 50m & the farthest one which they try to associate with is about 150m. some are directional and some are omni directional antenna.

thanks in advance.

Could be a poor signal quality between the WGB and the closets AP or maybe that close AP is real busy. Have you looked at the utilization, client count, etc. you can force WGB to a parent by specifying the parent radio mac address to if you want.

there is nothing in path between the nearest ap. The client count and utilization is normal for them.

I dont prefer to force the wgb parenting.

any other parameter i can check upon. Thanks
