We have a bunch of old 3524XL's that are providing power for our Autonoumous AP's.
Does anyone know if they'll work after we convert the AP's to LightWeight?
thanks.

Kevin,
The Cisco pre-standard power will work to power the AP's, but the WLC's will have a problem with this. They will see that the AP is not being provided the 15.4W that is the 802.3af standard and will not turn on the radios, claiming there is not enough power.
The way to fix this is, in 3.2 go to the command line and issue the command:
config ap power pre-standard enable all.
In 4.0 you can issue the command:
config ap power pre-standard
OR from the GUI you can go to the details of hte AP, and there are checkboxes for pre-standard and injector.

For old 3524-PWR-XL which provide 6mw power on the port, you need to have power injector. You also need to turn off the inline power on the switch port when using power injector and select INJECTOR mode on the AP "details" page of WLC.

Thank you guys for the replies.
So does the 3524 work w/ LWAPP AP's or not?
It sounds like there's a work around for the pre-standard PoE other than having a power injector...

Kevin,
The old pre-standard does work for LWAPP AP's, so long as you use the commands I gave you before. I did neglect to mention, when I read back, that the 1000 series AP will only take 802.3af power, but the Aironet AP's, 1100/1130/1200/1240 will take the pre-standard power.

Hi kevin,
here is the Cisco Doc:
Best regards,
Frank
Btw: sometime i had issues with inlinepower but the are resoveable with interface commands on the switch like this one:
power inline delay shutdown 20 initial 30

Thanks.
"power inline delay shutdown 20 initial 30"
Does this work on 3524XL?
The command dowsn't work in global config and the interface config.
