Forcing the Wireless Profile used by ACU at Windows startup.

Does anyone know how to force which Wireless Profile is used when Windows starts up ?

We are using Aironet 350 Cards and Cisco ACU 6.1 in our laptops running Windows XP. The ACU software is being used so that Cisco LEAP security can be used.

Currently we have have three wireless profiles configured in Cisco ACU, one for the "Office" environment, one for "Home" (so that users can use their own APs) and a "Hotspot" profile (No SSID, No WEP - but this profile is not used for various reasons I wont go into here). Up to now we have used Auto-Profile select, with the "Office" profile as the first in the list.

In order to allow our travelling users make use of Wireless Hotspots, we are looking to use the IPASS service. But what we have found is that we need to select "Use Other Configuration Application" from either the ACU Profile Manager or the Aironet Client Monitor, so that the IPASS dialler software can set the wireless card configuration. The big downside to this is that if the Wireless Profile is not set back to "Office" before the laptop is powered off, then the "Use Other Configuration Application" is the setting that is used when the laptop is powered back on - which causes problems when users are back in the office.

Is there a way to configure the laptop (either through registry setting or Cisco software setting or INI file setting) so we can force the "Office" profile to be always used on Windows startup regardless of the setting used at shutdown ?

No tsure if this will help or I understand your problem correctly but if instead of using the autoselect just enable the "Use selected profile" and this will lock the profile selected. The downside is when they want to use the other profile thay have to select it.

Thanks for the reply.

Making users select a different profile is not really an issue. The problem is that the profile they have active at shutdown will be the one that is active on the next startup. When the user changes profile, the "Use selected profile" option will change to reflect this.
