help dhcp wlc urgent

Check vlan cfg for first, if is ok, I had similar problem in one our site, I delete the scope and create again and now work properly,

help dhcp wlc urgent

Kamran:
- Your WLC version is very old and not even recommended. Please upgrade to a newer one (7.0.230.0 is latest. check upgrade path before upgrade).

- Do you have a Layer 3 interface on your switch on the range 172.16.20.0? if yes, on what is the vlan interface config?

Guys I made it to connect with ap only using comand on ap

lwapp controller ip address /ip/

and it works fine, but i need to make ap join automatic

any ideas?

help dhcp wlc urgent

Kamran:
You said that the AP joins successfully but the client's do no get an IP.

Now you are saying the problem was that the AP was not joining WLC at the first place!!

You need to describe the problem correctly for us to be able to help you better.

Here are link that will help you with your new issue:

help dhcp wlc urgent

My bad sorry,

i mean clients now get IP address, when i connect AP to wlc it gets ip address from  dhcp on my 6509, but after that its stucks, and cannot load image from wlc, i solved this problem by typing

lwapp controller ip address /ip/

and it worked,

but i need to make this connection for image upload dynamically, and it must be dynamically, any ideas?

thank you

Re: help dhcp wlc urgent

If the aap on same subnet as wlc it should work be connecting it to the network.

If on different subnet then you need to tell the ap about the ip address of thw wlc.

One method is to statically configure the ap withthe wlc ip, just like you did.

Other methods may be dhcp option 43 or dns (otap is one not-recommended method).

Visit the link i sent to you and you'll know more about those methods.

Re: help dhcp wlc urgent

Karman,

a note I saw on your WLC

System Name...................................... Cisco_7e:a2:47

System Location..................................

System Contact...................................

System ObjectID.................................. 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.1.747

IP Address....................................... 172.16.10.99

when you use option 43 in your DHCP server, you need to use TLV which are

Type= 0xf1

length= # of controller IP addresses (You have 2 IP)

Value= Convert the IP manager address to hex.

to convert 172.16.10.99 to hex =AC100A63

so the DHCP TLV would be f108.ac10.0a63

                                  yours is f108.ac01.0a63

maybe you want to fix that i guess. and check.

Re: help dhcp wlc urgent

I had trouble with with the DHCP Proxy feauter, after I turned it of I got an IP from my external DHCP server, not a Switch and MS one over the relay option in my network...

(Cisco Controller) >config dhcp proxy enable
(Cisco Controller) >show dhcp proxy

DHCP Proxy Behavior: enabled

regards,
Sebastian
