LAN Interface dropping Packetes

I have two Aironet 1232 and both of them have started dropping packets today. When I ping thier IP I am losing at 50% of the packets. They are able to keep a stable wireless connection with their clients but the clients are unable to access the LAN.

I just found it odd that two access points would have the same problem on the same day. I'm monitoring my network for unusual traffic but have not found any.

I also set one of them back to factory default but I continue to have problems with the LAN side of it.

Is any one aware of a virus that could be causing this? Am I being Hacked?

From the WLC, can you do "sh ap eventlog ", what are the results?

What's the CPU level of each accesspoint?

CPU Usage very High - What do you think is happening?

CPU utilization for five seconds: 96%/95%; one minute: 96%; five minutes: 95%

PID Runtime(ms) Invoked uSecs

What's the result when you do a "sh ap eventlog "?

When you consoled into the AP, do a "dir" and see if you can find any crashinfo or r0.core file.

What is the firmware you are running on your controller?

Re: LAN Interface dropping Packetes

I assume that u talking about autonomous AP's?!

what is the VLAN configuration on these AP's?

Try to check if there are broadcast storms or network loops?

Re: LAN Interface dropping Packetes

It turns out my DC was generating WINS traffic at a unusually high level. For what ever reason that was killing the APs processor. I simply rebooted the server and the issue was resolve.

Thank you for leading down the right path.
